All is Now Set for the Conduct of 2019 UTME – JAMB Registrar

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has concluded arrangements for the conduct of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The Registrar, JAMB, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed this at a meeting with some critical stakeholders on the Board’s strategic planning and preparation for the supervision and administration of the 2019 UTME in Abuja on Monday, 18th March, 2019.

The essence of the meeting was to take stock of all preparations for the examination with a view to perfecting strategies for a hitch-free 2019 UTME.

The Registrar pointed out that the meeting was a crucial strategic platform for JAMB to share and validate the vision of the Board as well as solicit and obtain feedbacks from stakeholders.

The Registrar added that the meeting was also to exchange information and create awareness on the readiness of the Board to conduct a hitch-free examination that would stand the test of time.

The meeting provided brief to the stakeholders on developments, particularly, the contributions of the Governing Board which had been churning out policies that would reshape the Board and add value to public examinations in Nigeria.

The meeting provided an opportunity for all the various strategic committees to exchange ideas and share information with a view to forming a common synergy. The various committees are to ensure a successful UTME.

For instance, the Chief External Examiners, who are Vice- Chancellors, Provosts and Rectors, provide leadership and direction for all examination personnel in their states for a hitch-free examination.

They are also to oversee activities in all examination centres within their states of supervision, receive and analyse reports of examination officials and forward them to the Board.

They are to recruit, deploy, remunerate and pay proctors per centre in their areas of coverage.

On the other hand, the High- Powered Opinion Leaders advise management on issues pertaining to the day-to-day conduct of the examination.

The Civil Society and Media Group, provide publicity for the examination, report on critical issues that may affect the conduct of the examination while the General Monitors, who are eminent personalities such as former Registrars, former Vice- Chancellors, are to oversee the activities in all the centres assigned to them using sophisticated technology to detect and report any infraction.

The Equal Opportunity Group assists with the conduct of the examinations for the blind and other disadvantaged groups while the Technical Advisors, address technical challenges and report to the Registrar.
