UNIMAID Matriculates 9,781 Students for 2018/2019 Academic Session
The University of Maiduguri, UNIMAID on Saturday 16th March, 2019 officially matriculated 9,781 freshers at its 38th Matriculation Ceremony for the 2018/2019 academic session.
A total of 9,781 students was matriculated into the various degree programmes of the University out of the 40,000 candidates that vied for admission into the institution for 2018/2019 academic session despite the disturbing insurgents in the heart of Borno State.
According to the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Ibrahim Njodi, in his statement, said that despite the security situation in Borno State, over 40,000 candidates applied for admission into the institution for 2018/2019 academic session, noting, however, that the university cannot overshoot the quota allocated to it by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
“As peace is gradually returning to the State, University of Maiduguri has continued to attract unprecedented number of prospective candidates throughout the country and even beyond “.
He cautioned the matriculating students against committing ugly vices such as examination misconducts, cultism, drug abuse and violent demonstration.
Faculty of Science has the highest number of registered students with 2,824 students while faculty of Veterinary Medicine got the least with 79 students.
